Kathryn Frances White
Kathryn Frances Rockwell Mason White, passed away on December 25, 2023.
Kathryn was born at home in Council Bluffs, IA on March 6, 1927, to Ralph and Katherine Weiss Rockwell. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, IA in 1945.
Kathy married Robert Mason in 1946 and the children from that marriage were Alice Jane, Harold Robert, and Kathryn “Gail”. In 1952 the family moved to the Spokane, WA area and in 1954 they purchased Ephrata Printers in Ephrata, WA. Kathy enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Altrusa Club and Red Hat Society. She put in hard worked hours at the print shop before leaving in 1963 to take night classes at Big Bend Community College to gain skills needed for her 1964 employment with Grant County Public Utility District.
While working at the PUD she met Norman E. White, whom she married in 1969, and relocated to Quincy before embarking on new and exciting adventures. Both Norm and Kathy retired from the PUD in 1982. They had years of happiness which included socializing, dancing, camping, travel, and devotion to the Lord. They were deeply involved with Quincy Habitat for Humanity as well as scholarship donors to Quincy High School graduates through the Columbia Basin Foundation. In 2005, two years after Norm's passing, Kathy relocated to East Wenatchee where she enjoyed working in her flower beds, attending Our Savior's Lutheran Church, and being an active member of the Wenatchee Senior Center. She really liked the Wenatchee area and found immense joy in all the opportunities that it provided. In 2020 she returned to Ephrata, where she was loved and well cared for by Harold Geesey and Betty Taylor of Coolidge House Adult Family Home.
Those who preceded her in death were her loving husband Norman, her mother and father, Ralph, and Katherine, as well as siblings, Clarence “Rocky” Rockwell, Eileen Norman, Harold “Bud” Rockwell, Phyllis Rockwell, stepdaughter Debbie Yeaman and former husband Robert Mason.
She is survived by her children, Alice Vaughan (Luckie) of Moses Lake, Harold Mason, of Quincy, Gail Smith-Scellick (Steve) of Ephrata & Ellensburg, stepdaughter Geri Renn (Brad Pike) of McMinnville, OR., siblings Beverly Bowers of Council Bluffs, IA and Janet McDole of Mobile, AL., grandchildren James McLawhorn, Julie McLawhorn, Jason Vaughan, Jacob Vaughan, Galen “Neil” Smith, Gabriel Jimenez, Tracy Queen, Tammy Renn, Natalie Reed, Meghan Reed, Tessa Yeaman, 18 great-grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren, and special friend Frazier “Larry” Sylte.
There will be a graveside service at 11:30 am on January 5, 2024, at the Quincy Valley Cemetery with Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name could be given to the Norman and Kathy White Scholarship at Columbia Basin Foundation.
Kathy was a very warm, loving, caring, and giving person. If you knew her, you would know that she would have wanted to give you one last hug.
