Our sweet Baby Boy Kenlan Monroe Coleman (Scooter) ran into to the arms of Jesus, with his Sweet Sister waiting with open arms for him Saturday, August 15th 2026.
Kenlan was born May 15th 2013 to Justin and Kelly Coleman in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was the baby of four. Kenlan was 13 years old. He was His Daddy’s right hand man Scooter and His Mama’s perfect baby Boo. He spent everyday helping his mama with his Niece Kaisley and Nephew Kolter, helping care for them, while teaching them the way of the ranch. They adored him and wanted to be with him no matter what he was doing. He loved them more than anything and told them daily. He was the Best Uncle Scooter! Kenlan was smart and handsome and always had a big smile on his face. He spent his days horse back working cattle for his daddy and for ranches all over Texas. He was the hardest worker and always willing to do anything for anyone. If you knew Kenlan you knew fishing was where you would usually find him no matter the time, day or weather. He started his own farm “Coleman Farm” a couple years ago, where he raises chickens, ducks and quail. If he wasn’t fishing, or hunting he was down at his farm working and feeding all hours of the day. He made quite a big business for himself selling eggs, chickens and ducks. He enjoyed nightly walks with his mama where they talked about everything and enjoyed their time just the two of them, always catching the sunset together. Kenlan was a member of the The Windthorst 4H where he has showed rabbits and pigs the past seven years and he loved every minute of that! Kenlan enjoyed hanging out with his buddies, his Brothers Keaton and Kelbin and he was blessed with the best of both. Kenlan had the biggest heart and he never went without telling you he loved you. He LOVED BIG! He was the Happiest Cowboy and loved life.
Kenlan was a bright light in this world and if you knew him, you loved him! He was always able to make you smile and laugh. He had the Best Smile.
Our hearts are shattered, but we know he is with His sister Kaybree again and they are rejoicing!
Kenlan is survived by his parents Justin and Kelly Coleman of Windthorst, Texas. Brother Keaton Coleman and Wife Kaylynn of Windthorst, Texas. Brother Kelbin Coleman of Windthorst, Texas. His mamas Best Friend
His Daddys Right hand man
He loved to ride, and work cattle . He spent most days fishing and hunting wild hogs . He was the hardest worker and always did it with a big smile. He shined so Bright - he spent hours with his brother Kelbin roping in the evenings and went walking with his mama every night- they started that together after his sister had passed to have that alone time each day to just talk. He loved animals . He knew everything about fish - chickens, ducks and more
- he started a fish hatchery a couple years ago - he bred fish all year long to keep his fishing tanks stocked . He could fix anything . He and his friends would tinker and build all sorts of things . He built forts all over the ranch for him and his buddies and helped build his dream cabin a couple years ago where him and his buddies loved to hang out ! He could out rope and ride most men. He was outside no matter the weather. He spent hours and hours each day tending to his farm - he has over 100 ducks- chickens- chicks and quail
Him and his mama spent many hours at the pet stores. That was always a stop when they went to town!
Kenlan spent everyday with his niece Kaisley and Nephew Kolter. He was so patient and kind and he took them with him everyday. He was teaching them responsibility and the way of the ranch life. He played with them non stop and loved on them daily and never missed a chance to show and tell them how much he loved them.
Kenlan was a big on saying He loved you …. He always came into his mom and dad’s room nightly at least 2 but usually 3 times before bedtime to tell them goodnight and he loved them. Even when he was at friends he always called or texted good night I love you……
He loved riding around with Kaybress friends and hitting every mud hole to get them all muddy - they spent many hours together riding the ranch
Scooter got his name from his dad - when he was 6 months old he started pushing his head into the carpet with his butt into the air and scooted around everywhere- he never crawled like a normal baby. He always head scooted everywhere- so Justin named him ‘Scooter’
He loved to cook his buddies, which was usually steaks, when they stayed the night.
He loved to cook for them . He was independent at a very early age doing things that most children could not do. He Always wanted to hook up the horse trailer and saddle his own horse. Has been horseback since he was born. He was smart, so handsome and the girls loved his smile, his blonde hair, sky Blue eyes and accent. He always got attention everywhere we went from the ladies !
He was always up for a project with his mama. They would learn a new skill together and have fun learning and doing them. Mama even talked him into trying needle point most recently and they had so much fun doing it ! He probably would never tell his friends about that tho 🤣
When Kenlan started his farm he wanted to make a pond so his ducks had a place to stay cool. When he had his buddies over he had them with shovels digging one. His mama said Boo i bet your friends are tired of working and he “nah mom. Its good for them”. After they would leave after digging with shovels for hours he would jump on the skid steer and continue to work on his pond. Kenlan was responsible, respectful- always saying yes ma’am and yes sir .
Kenlan was a hard worker and loved to earn his money - he always bought all his buddies drinks, snacks and several pocket knives . He was a giver. He never wanted anyone to go without. He always had cash but he earned every bit of it . He worked cattle for many texas and Oklahoma ranches.
Kenlans dreams were owning his own ranch and he already had a great start with his Farm. He told his mama recently he wanted to live the same life he was living. He loved riding good horses and was anxious to get his mare DeDe bred soon! He loved to workout and was in the weight room everyday. He loved music. Music was always playing non stop. He loved showing his rabbits and pigs at the county show. He would spend that whole week running around.
Kenlan received a bull calf as payment for working cattle one year and his dad wanted to cut him and make it a steer, but Kenlan said no dad I want to keep-it for our cows. So we did and he used his bull on his cows for 8 years. Again. Always thinking about making that money !
It was one of those long nights when Kenlan, Brooklyn, Braelyn, and Kendall had absolutely no plans of going home anytime soon. We were riding around town in the Can-Am, the heater blasting inside, the music turned all the way up, and all four of us jamming out and singing along like we were at our own little concert. We drove around for what felt like hours, laughing, talking, and just enjoying being together.
Eventually, we realized we were getting pretty low on gas. We didn’t want to run out, so we called Cody to see if there was any extra gas at the house. Unfortunately, there wasn’t.
Cody basically told us, “If there’s no more gas, then no, we’re not driving around.”
But that wasn’t exactly what we wanted to hear. We weren’t ready for the night to end, so we decided to stop at a gas station and fill up. We weren’t about to let something as simple as running low on gas ruin our night.
Around 10:30 PM, we stopped at the gas station, but we already knew it would be closed because it was late. Since the building was closed, we couldn’t go inside to pay with cash. We had to pay at the pump with Kendall’s card because that was our only option. Kenlan wanted to pay for the gas, but since the station was closed, Kendall’s card was the only way we could fill up.
That’s when we realized just how freezing cold it was outside. Inside the Can-Am, the heater was blasting and the music was still playing, so none of us wanted to get out.
Kenlan, being the gentleman he was, didn’t hesitate. He climbed out into the freezing cold and started pumping the gas for Brooklyn, Braelyn, and Kendall while we stayed inside where it was warm. To make matters worse, the gas pump was taking forever. What should have been a quick stop turned into at least fifteen minutes of Kenlan sitting outside in the freezing cold, waiting for the tank to fill while we stayed inside the Can-Am talking to Kenlan.
He could’ve easily told one of us to get out and pump the gas, but that’s just not who Kenlan was. He always wanted to take care of us, and that night was no different. Even though he couldn’t pay for the gas himself like he wanted to, he still made sure everything was taken care of, patiently standing outside until the slow pump finally finished.
Once the tank was full, Kenlan climbed back inside, and we turned the music back up and took off again. The heater warmed everyone back up as we continued driving around town, singing, laughing, and making the most out of the rest of our night.
Looking back, it wasn’t anything huge or extraordinary. It was just a long night in the Can-Am, freezing weather, loud music, a gas pump that took forever, a closed gas station at 10:30 PM, and four friends who didn’t want the night to end.
kelly colemanLove this!! He was always so kind - biggest heart of anyone

STUCK IN THE MUD
It was supposed to be a normal four-wheeler ride with Bri, Lizette, Kendall, and Kenlan. We were just riding around, laughing, talking, and having a good time—until we decided to take a little shortcut through what looked like a perfectly harmless muddy area.
Big mistake.
The second the four-wheeler hit the mud, the tires started spinning. At first, we all thought it was funny. Kenlan tried giving it more gas, but instead of moving forward, we just dug ourselves deeper and deeper.
“STOP! You’re making it worse!” Bri yelled, laughing so hard she could barely talk.
Bri jumped off and started looking around for something we could put under the tires. Kendall was trying to give directions, even though absolutely nobody was listening. Lizette was trying to help, while Kenlan, of course, was convinced he could get us out.
“Just let me try one more time,” he said.
One more time turned into about ten more times.
Mud was flying everywhere. Our shoes were covered, our clothes were getting splattered, and at this point we were laughing so hard we didn’t even care anymore. Every time we thought we were finally getting out, the tires would spin and sink even deeper.
Eventually, all four of us were standing there completely covered in mud, staring at the four-wheeler like it had personally betrayed us.
After what felt like forever, we finally managed to get it unstuck. We were exhausted, filthy, and still laughing about the whole thing.
It was definitely not how we planned the four-wheeler ride to go, but somehow it ended up being one of those memories we would never forget—the kind of night where everything goes wrong but you laugh about it for years afterward.
And knowing Kenlan, he probably would’ve still said, “I told y’all I could get it out.” (KENDALL, BRI, LIZETTE)
