Life story

Everett Dean Nibbelink (November 1, 1925 - July 29, 2010) passed away peacefully on July 29, 2010 after a long fight against heart disease. He is survived by his adoring wife of 64 years, Laura, their 3 children, Gary (wife Linda), Greg (wife Bevlee) and Diane Goulding (husband Bob); his 4 grandchildren, Shawn, Brad (Kimyko), Bryan (wife Lindsay) and Laura; his 3 great grandchildren, Devin, Colin & Natalie; his sister Corinne Poel (husband Jerry) and countless other extended family members & friends. Everett was preceded in death by his father, Walter, his mother, Dorothy and his brother, Bud. Everett was a Navy World War II Veteran at Normandy. He was a member of the Patrol Craft Sailors Association and a charter member of the Ca. LST Association. He owned and operated Certified Safe & Lock Services from 1954-1983 when he retired. Once retired, he and Laura traveled around Europe; traveled across the country in their motor home; spent time at their cabin he built in Volcanoville; and could always be found at his grandchildren's sporting events.

Laura Marie Zanotto Nibbelink (February 11, 1925 - February 1, 2021) was born and raised in Hilt, CA to Italian Catholic immigrant parents. She was the youngest of 6 siblings and the valedictorian of her high school. She met and married U.S. Navy man, Everett Nibbelink from Indiana in 1946. Over their 64 years of marriage, they had three children, celebrated milestones of marriages for all, and births of grandkids and great grandkids. They traveled through Europe, and across the United States in their motor home, as well as to Canada and Hawaii. They spent nearly ever Thursday through Saturday that they weren't traveling elsewhere, at the cabin they built in Volcanoeville, CA.

In 1954, they took the plunge and purchased Certified Safe & Lock Services (CSLS), and eventually relocated the business from 33rd Street and Folsom Blvd in Sacramento to the location where it remains today at the 5900 block of Folsom Blvd in East Sacramento. In 1971, the security business expanded, and Sacramento Valley Alarm Security Systems (SVA), was born. Laura worked as the dispatcher for both CSLS & SVA until she retired in 1983, so that she and Everett could do all the previously mentioned traveling without worry. Today both companies are thriving as essential businesses and are run by their children, with third generation grand children who are also apart of the businesses.

All Laura truly ever wanted, was to be married and to have a family. She succeeded greatly in this by being the devoted matriarch of the family, and an amazing wife to Everett. She not only raised her own children, but also helped to raise her grandchildren as their after school and summer vacation caregiver, and by taking them along on weekend trips to the cabin or other special getaways.

Laura had previously been diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma and was able to keep it under control for several years. She had also received the diagnosis of bladder cancer (for which she had beaten), and broke her femur and mildly fractured her pelvis in two separate incidences...all of which she successfully rehabbed and overcame with a smile on her face.

Every person she ever came across was greeted with a smile, the most amazing laugh and spoken to with kind words of approval. She has been coined by many as "the sweetest person you could ever meet." All of her nurses, doctors and caregivers were also very taken aback as to how sweet a woman she was, especially under the circumstances she was facing. She lived by three main ideals and encouraged everyone she met to do the same...

"Enjoy your youth."

"Go while you can."

"Have happy thoughts."

Laura is survived by her two sons, Gary (wife Linda) and Greg (wife Bevlee) Nibbelink and daughter Diane Goulding (husband Bob); grandsons, Shawn and Brad Nibbelink, and Bryan Goulding (Leta Thomas), granddaughter Laura (Goulding) Aguirre (husband Steve), and her 6 great grandkids, Devin Nibbelink, Colin and Natalie Goulding, Ryan and Evelyn Aguirre, and Darian Thomas; as well as her niece Norma Rinaldi and family of Bakersfield, CA, sister-in-law Corrine Poel and family of Texas, cousins and countless lifelong friends and extended family.

She has been proceeded in death by the love of her life, Everett Nibbelink whom she was married to for 64 years at the time of his passing in 2010; along with her parents, Enrico and Teresa (Ceccato) Zanotto and siblings, Gino, Eda, Tony & Mary Zanotto and Linda (Lena) Lamon.
