Nicole Elizabeth Hines
Forever painting our skies
Nicole was a beautiful girl with a sweet soul. Her love for life was evident through her art and photography. Sunsets and sunrises were her favorites to put on a canvas. We would often take drives chasing those sunsets to capture the “perfect” picture for her to paint.
Growing up, Nicole loved dancing and singing. She started ballet at the age of 3 then continued on to learn tap and jazz dance. Her love for music began early and she had the voice of an Angel when she sang. Along with her art, she truly enjoyed listening to music and scouting out the newest, up and coming artists.
Family was important to Nicole. She was a good big sister to her siblings. Tyson, her brother, and she were the best of friends. They were only 16 months apart in age and very close. They had many adventures together throughout the years on our property. When Olivia was born 5 years later, she wouldn’t put her down! Liv loved when Nicole would take time to do her hair and make up for her. She would be so proud to know that her little sister is following in her footsteps with art and music. When her youngest brother Ryan was born, she was so excited! She was definitely a mother hen. She would take him on little ice cream “dates” that he absolutely loved! There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her siblings!
Nicole had many friends. Gabby, who was also her cousin, was her best friend. They were only a year apart and inseparable. They were always laughing and coming up with some sort of shenanigans. Nicole could light up a room with her smile and make anyone laugh. I would often call her my “funny girl.” She was a great listener and always gave the best advice. I would wonder how she was so wise beyond her young years.
Our girl was soon to graduate from high school and move to Chicago for school. I remember our conversation. She said, “Mom, if I don’t get into Columbia, I’m not going to college.” I will never forget that phone call. I was at work and she called me crying, so excited when she got her acceptance letter. Proud is an understatement of what I felt for her and her future!
Nicole never got the opportunity to fulfill any of her dreams She had started having seizures in January of 2018 and diagnosed with epilepsy a couple of months later. Her neurologist started her on medication but the seizures were getting worse. She was scheduled for May 11th to adjust her medication but she passed away from a seizure in her sleep on May 5th, just 6 days before her appointment. I will never understand why God chose her. A young, beautiful girl who had her whole life ahead of her. Until we meet again, as her mom, I mourn her and will always share her story and our memories to keep her memory alive.
