If you love life, don't waste time, for time is what life is made of.
Life story

Pat (aka: Mom) was born in Alabama. She was primarily raised by Granny and Grand Daddy. Mom had so much respect and love for them. She also had a half brother, Wayne and half sister, Jackie. They didn't grow up in the same house. They had the same mother, Inez.

If you knew my Mom, you know that her given name was Patsy. But do not call her that. She didn’t like it at all. I am sure many of you reading this have tested those waters. Although, Dad would would say it is beautiful name, like Patsy Cline. Nope that did not make any difference at all.

She was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 3 years old. School was a difficult when you have seizures. Other kids made fun and didn't understand. She dropped out of high school in the 11th grade. She always wanted to get her GED, but never did.

She always said that street smarts count just as much as book smarts. She had both. She loved to write short stories about her life and her kids lives as well. She would always say: "Wonder if I could get these published?" I would always say: "Yes, I think you could."

She worked as a waitress where she met my Dad. He worked at a local tire shop in Alabama. Fate that day started their love story. Once with Dad she quit the diner and started working as a dry cleaner. Mom wanted to spend more time with Dad and they decided that it would be nice to work together at Slaughter Tire Service. But her main job was taking care of her three children. Her children was her pride and joy. She not only raised her children but also 4 grandchildren. She also helped take care of Mrs. Coleman a close neighbor and friend, Marie and Eileen, who were her friends. Margie was her best friend, they would always love talking for hours.

For fun, she loved playing cards. 500 rummy was our go to game. She was really good at it. To beat her at this game was an achievement in itself.

She would love to feed and watch the birds and squirrels. Cardinals were her favorite bird but I think Blue Jays was a close second. We would sit on the porch watching the birds and let's not forget the daily airplane. She would say: there goes my airplane. It was like clockwork. She would be the first to hear it before we could even see it.

If you ever received advise from her, please remember it and put it into practice. She was very wise and wanted the best for everyone she met. She was very loved and respected. She was a blessing to have in my life.

I am so grateful to have had her as my Mom.
