Life story

Robert (Rob) Thomas Trenn, 64, of Conneaut, Ohio passed away suddenly at his home on August 2, 2023 . Rob was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on June 16, 1959 and grew up in North Kingsville, Ohio. He also lived in Southern Florida for several years.

Rob had a long career in the automotive sales and service industry, working at local dealerships like Marcy Chevrolet, Holly Motors and Greg Sweet’s. He later owned and operated the Bridge Street Cafe on Bridge Street in the Ashtabula Harbor. In the past several years, you could find him attending auctions. He also sold items on eBay, as well as at local flea markets, especially the Pymatuning-Lake Drive-Inn Flea Market where he was a regular vendor. Antique and vintage bicycles were his passion.

To say that Rob was an independent free spirit would be an understatement. There was always one way, and that was Rob’s. He was unyieldingly devoted to his family who he loved more than he could express, but that love was demonstrated through the ways he gave the shirt off his back, dropped everything to help in a moment’s notice, and to just visit with you over a pot of coffee. Rob enjoyed NASCAR and loved the Intimidator, Dale Earnhart Sr. Rob would tell you that “Like Frankie, I did it my way”. He would also tell you to “Vote for Trump in ’24!”.

Rob will be missed by his five children, Joseph, Jessica, Amber, Scarlett and Anna; and his eight grandchildren, Taven, Josephine, Meadow, Hayden, Elaina Paige, Bentley and Giovanni. Rob recently became a great-grandfather to Nova. Mr. and Mrs. Edward (Jaqueline) Trenn, Rob’s parents, will miss him beyond expression. Rob also leaves behind his three brothers, David (Joy) Trenn, Michael (Becky) Trenn, and Edward (Dedra) Trenn; along with two sisters, Catherine Trenn and Sharon (Jeff Goudge) Trenn. Rob leaves behind many, many nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

Rob was all about family and dearly loved spending time with his Uncle John (Annie) Ginter, Aunt Sandra Strong, and Uncle Darrell (Kimberlee) Hutchinson, Aunt Lore (Phil) Anderson, along with his many cousins. Before his passing, Rob very sadly missed his late grandparents Edna and Leo Ginter, his Aunt Bonnie Claussen, and cousins Michael “Big Mike” Hutchinson and his recently deceased son, Michael, as well Mike’s brother Richard Hutchinson.
