Spencer and Janalee Moody
Thank you for your service
Spencer served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Spencer Kimball Moody of Enterprise Utah, age 67, unexpectedly returned to his heavenly home with his sweet companion on June 18, 2021.
Spencer was born on November 21, 1953 in Delta Utah to Juel Thurmon and Eva Dean Moody, where he spent his youth growing up on the family farm as the 5th of 10 children. He always talked so fondly of the hard work he did growing up on the farm and his love for Delta. Anyone that knew him knew of his incredible work ethic which is something that through example would later be instilled in all of his children.
After graduating from Delta High School he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Janalee Gubler in the Logan Utah Temple. Shortly after getting married, his desire to serve his country led him to join the AirForce as an air traffic controller. It was during this time that he and his bride started a family and were able to see and explore much of the world. He loved his country and always had stories to tell of his military service. After leaving the AirForce he worked many years as an air traffic controller, and many other jobs before he decided to follow his passion for education and teaching.
His career as an educator is perhaps where he left some of his greatest impacts on his students and community. He had an amazing ability to make people feel important, and saw God's potential in everyone. He was incredibly creative and a skilled craftsman, and he got great joy from building things. Thanks to Youtube, he had no reservations about building projects that he knew almost nothing about. If you could imagine it, he could find a way to build it.
Spencer was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and a living example of God's love. He had true love and compassion for everyone he met. From a very young age he had a strong testimony and was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He would often be found telling stories of his faith promoting experiences of growing up on the farm and other life experiences. He spent his life in service to his God and family and held many church callings in his lifetime including being a bishop, and most recently President of the Elders Quorum. He loved temple work, and he felt so blessed to be able to spend time working in the Payson Temple shortly after it opened.
He is survived by his mother, Eva Dean Pace Moody and his eight children Aaron (Rosalee) Moody, Justin (Heather) Moody, Amy Rasmussen, Brenden (Rachelle) Moody, Jared (Heidi) Moody, Stacie (Warren) Bowler, Laura Moody, Chantel Moody, 30 grandchildren, four brothers and four sisters. He is preceded in death by his father Juel Thurmon Moody, and sister Annette Tippetts.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Enterprise Stake Center, 80 South Center St., Enterprise, Utah. There will be a viewing on Friday June 25, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., and Saturday morning from 9:00-10:45 a.m.
Grave Dedication (burial) will take place following the funeral service at the Enterprise, Utah Cemetery.
Janalee Gubler Moody
The world lost a beloved mother and grandmother, Janalee Gubler Moody of Enterprise Utah, who unexpectedly left this mortal existence on June 18, 2021.
Janalee was 67 years old and was born on December 28, 1953 in Soda Springs, Idaho to Jay H. and Evelyn Gubler. She spent much of her younger years living in various places around the country until she found her way to Delta, Utah where she met her eternal companion Spencer Moody. She married Spencer in the Logan Temple on July 28, 1972.
Soon after getting married they began to grow their family. She was a devoted wife and mother who selflessly spent countless hours working and sacrificing for the needs of her family including her eight children who made up the entirety of her world. She was someone who very much disliked the spotlight and recognition and always fulfilled her motherly responsibilities softly and without fanfare. Her deep love and devotion to her family was clearly visible as she faithfully and without thought for herself tenderly cared for her parents in their later years in her home as well as took constant care of her precious daughter Chantel. She also very much loved being a grandma and always went out of her way to make sure all of her 30 grandchildren felt special and loved every time they would come to see her.
Along with being a wonderful mother, throughout her life she was devoted to her faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent numberless hours serving in various capacities such as primary and relief society president and being a bishop's wife.
It was through her experience raising children that she found her passions and talents for being very organized, a skilled planner, and a forward thinker. She was constantly spending her time with things that would benefit her family in the future. She had a love for gardening, canning, and storing food. She would start her Christmas gift making and gathering in January for the coming year, and loved to make her holiday homemade chocolates that she would carefully ration and make last the entire year. She was loved by everyone because of her sweet disposition. Her gentle, kind hearted personality will always be remembered and treasured.
She is survived by her Father, Jay Gubler and her eight children Aaron (Rosalee) Moody, Justin (Heather) Moody, Amy Rasmussen, Brenden (Rachelle) Moody, Jared (Heidi) Moody, Stacie (Warren) Bowler, Laura Moody, Chantel Moody, 30 grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. She is preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Gubler and sister Kathy Meyers.
