Cody was born on January 28, 1980, to his loving mother, Susan. Though he faced many health challenges in his youth, he never allowed them to define him. With determination and resilience, Cody persevered and excelled in everything he pursued. He carried an incredible perspective on life and always sought to stay active. Surrounded by a loving and welcoming family, Cody embraced their example and made it his mission to ensure everyone he met felt valued, included, and loved.
Growing up as the only boy among four sisters and a single mom, Cody learned early the importance of compassion, respect, and standing strong for those he cherished. Family was everything to him—whether it was his immediate family or his “Framily,” as he fondly called his chosen family. His sisters (Nicole, Ashley, Trisha, Paige) and his mom were always in his heart, and he would do anything for them.
Cody deeply admired his grandparents, Jack and Gayle, whose relationship embodied true love. He carried their example into his own marriage with his wife, Kaysi. The two met in 1999 and were inseparable from the start. Married in 2007, they welcomed two sons, Zane and Daxton, who became Cody’s greatest pride and joy. Choosing to stay home during the day to raise his boys, Cody instilled in them the values of family, integrity, communication, and staying active. He coached them for years in Junior Jazz basketball, which inspired him to become a coach at Falcon Ridge Elementary. To the neighborhood kids, Cody was a beloved figure—always greeted with high-fives, hugs, and endless admiration.
Cody had a gift for bringing light to every situation and making people laugh. He always brought energy to every moment and lifted the spirits of everyone around him. To say he lit up a room is an understatement; his absence leaves a space that feels immeasurably empty. He loved sports of all kinds—basketball in his younger years, tennis where he excelled, golf tournaments with the USDGA, and pickleball, where it was a rare occurrence for him to lose a game. Cody was happiest when he was playing sports, attending concerts, enjoying the outdoors, and sharing those moments with those he loved.
On November 26, 2025, Cody passed away suddenly in Costa Rica on Playa Bandera, surrounded by his wife, sons, and close friends
Cody was an inspiration to all. He was animated, intelligent, and charismatic. He was a total jokester who was deeply loving. He was someone who worked hard and always showed up for the people he cared about. He was the best dad, an amazing athlete, a deep thinker, and a brilliant creator. He was everything to us. He had a gift for making everyone laugh and creating the best memories for those around him. He demonstrated how to enjoy each moment and to always have fun. To quote a treasured band, he’d say to “stay positive and love your life!” He truly loved life and took advantage of it in every way. He lived it up!
He absolutely loved and thrived at golf, that is one reason we wanted to dedicate this memorial bench to him. We chose Fore Lakes because it’s one of the most visited and loved golf courses of him, his friends and his family. A good opportunity to see it more often!
As you visit Cody’s Memorial Bench, a place we cherish, we kindly invite you to take a moment to sit, reflect, and snap a photo here to share with his family, whether they are pics with loved ones, friends, or simply yourself.
Take a moment to reflect on all that you’re grateful for. Tomorrow is never promised, so please pause, cherish this very moment, and appreciate the simple blessing of simply being on the golf course. Remember to be present, grateful, and full of love, just like our Cody was.
Take your swings, and let love lead the way. 🏌🏼♂️❤️⛳️
Cody taught me to golf on this course when we first started dating in 2000, and 25 years later it was still one of our favorite places to play together. I loved watching him golf, that’s where he was completely in his element. Even on the rare days when his round wasn’t going well, he never lost his positive attitude. He brought love and joy everywhere he went, always cheering for everyone to hit their best shots. Grateful we are able to honor his memory here.
