““I want to be the best person I can be with the time that I have”
-Tanner
Life story
Tanner Leslie Preston tragically left us on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at the tender age of 30. Tanner and his twin brother Taylor were born on August 15, 1991, to Amy (Preston) Johnson and Derek Preston. Tanner leaves behind a loving family and fiancé that he loved deeply. He also leaves behind many friends locally and those in his gaming circle who were like family to him, whom are scattered all around the world. Tanner was not a fan of formalities he loved gaming, Crocs, Seahawk’s, Star Wars, The Office, and wide genre of music, anime and movies. He had a passion for food, the beach and dreamed of traveling. His love and gentleness for animals was deeply embedded in his heart, especially his husky Ares and Taylors husky, Gus. His heart was big for those who truly knew him. His laugh contagious. To know him was to love him.
How can this be…. three years without my Tanner boy!! Life has changed forever with the absence of you. our family is forever fractured. Knowing that Papa carried all our love to you, brings me peace. he walked through the loss of you right along side us. I know that embrace must have been epic. Missing you always!! To the stars and back! Love, Mom
From going to football camp to see the boys, Desert Aire or maybe it was Lake Tapps and prom, pictures I love of this very missed young man. I can now tell TNT apart, but back then, I would have to look at their ear. When I would ask to see the ear, they would laugh and say “no, who am I?” I would always guess wrong. We would laugh. Missing you Tanner!
Tanner was always so fun for me to be around growing up during the different stages of my life. Being 4 years younger, I was almost always one stage behind Tanner and Taylor so I was constantly taking mental notes of what was cool and how both of them were interacting with the world in front of them. I know I have talked about it before but I will always remember the green Seahawks sweatshirt I got as a hand-me-down that took forever to fit me as it was so special for me to have something worn by my two big cousins.
Whether it was going on adventures when they stayed with us, running away from them every time we hung out in fear of being wrestled to the ground or riding in the white bronco(?) with the subwoofers blasting (which apparently they got from my mom per her post on here) I was lucky to have a cousin as great as Tanner and I will always miss him.
I was 16 when the boys were born. They brought so much life and fun and silliness to our lives and have continued to into young adults. They both have such a light and joyful fun energy but out of the two of them Tanner had a quieter side and might come across a little more reserved but only until he was comfortable and then he’d show you his silly, goofy, fun side.
I remember driving them to SouthCenter mall in my boyfriend’s Camaro with our music and the bass all the way up and after parking and getting them out of the car, I had a lady yell at me and tell me how terrible I was and that they were going to lose their hearing. Being 17, I of course thought she was ridiculous but looking back she was probably right!! However, I don’t think their hearing was jeopardized 😂 They loved it and were dancing the whole way there!
From taking them snowboarding in Whistler to hilarious times at Camp Bishop and all the smaller, daily memories in between, Tanner is woven into the tapestry of my life.
I have so many memories that are like gold to me, and I will keep them guarded in my heart forever.
I am so grateful for the time I had with Tanner and continue to be grateful for the time I have with Taylor. Whether on this earth or in the heavens, I will always love you and be your Auntie She-She
Amy JohnsonI love everything about this. Your Godsons, their She-She. So incredibly lucky to have you and all the memories that go along with it all. Xoxo

Our boys
Our boys met and became friends. So thankful for this. They had some of the best times together
If it weren’t for Tanner and Taylor meeting my son, Jared, we would have never met. They gave me a gift too. My best friend, their mom, Amy. Tanner will forever hold a special spot in my heart. He was so sweet and kind hearted. We’ve had some great laughs. Missing you Buddy! 💙
