Life story

When thinking back on the life of Timothy Allen Huff, he was truly the ‘G.O.A.T’ in countless ways. He entered this world May 8, 1993 and from that moment forward, he brought so much joy to the lives of all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Timothy was an only child born to Tammy L. Jones and John A. Huff; he loved his parents beyond measure.

When recounting Timothy’s formative years, it’s hard not to think of him without envisioning those golden blonde curls that outlined his big clear green eyes, or the way he walked on his tippy toes as he hustled through the house from one room to the other. His laugh was nothing short of contagious, and that big bright smile of his had a way of always melting your heart. His grin made it almost impossible to tell him no. Timothy would frequently ask you to take him to visit his grandma and grandpa’s house, to join him in a game of Boggle, or to take him for some ice cream. Timothy would often spend weekdays at his grandma and grandpa’s house during the summer while his mom worked. He and his grandma watched, ‘A Nightmare before Christmas’ so many times that he wore that VHS out.

Anyone who knew Timothy knew that family was paramount. He grew up with his cousins in Twelve Mile, Indiana and spent a chunk of his childhood with his cousin, Cullen. Timothy was a son and grandson, but he was also the best cousin and nephew anyone could ask for. Timothy was more like a best friend to his cousins, especially the little ones who idolized him. He lovingly referred to his aunts as ‘aunties’ and he had a way of making all of them feel so special to him. Not only was Timothy family-oriented, but he was a true friend to those who were lucky enough to be in his close circle. His friends could always count on him to have their back; he was loyal. He liked to hang out; he liked people - all of them. Race, creed, color never really mattered to Timothy as he accepted everyone for who they were - he was genuine in that way.

It was no surprise that Timothy was drawn to sports at such a young age since he spent much of his time with his grandpas watching virtually any and all sports. Timothy’s first team sport was T-ball and thus began his love affair with sports. He liked belonging to a team. Throughout his middle and high school years, sports were his central focus. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his teammates and quickly identified as an athlete. Timothy attended Caston Junior/Senior High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He developed a passion for baseball and his senior year he was selected by his coaches to the All-Loganland Baseball Team.

After high school and throughout his twenties, Timothy maintained a recreational interest in sports. He enjoyed playing football with friends and he could often be found “hoopin’ it up” at a local park on a nice day or playing a pick-up game at the YMCA. He was an avid race fan, enjoyed watching the Cubs, and he was a devoted Indiana Hoosiers fan.

Timothy’s passing was sudden and unexpected. His love, his mild-manner genuine caring nature, and the pure joy he brought his family and friends will be missed beyond measure. Timothy was truly one-of-a-kind! In addition to his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Timothy left behind his cat, Lucy, who was his best buddy. Timothy’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, and kindness. He taught those whom he left behind to live a life of acceptance and understanding. His sudden passing serves as a reminder that tomorrow is never promised ~ tell those who you love how much they mean to you, today ~ don’t take time on earth for granted, and always hold your loved ones tight.

🤍 Happy Birthday 🤍

Today is your first heavenly birthday and life will never be the same without you. I miss you more than you will ever know. I wish every day for my phone to ring one more time or to give you another big annoying cousin hug. You were always there for me and anyone that needed someone. You had the biggest heart and always made sure I was ok, no matter what you were going through. You could always cheer me up and make me laugh. You were the least judgemental person I have ever met and we always had each other's back no matter what the situation was. We could tell each other how it is, and pick each other right back up. You helped me through some of my darkest times when no one else was there, and never once judged me or lectured me, just wholeheartedly loved me and were there for me. I will forever be grateful for that. I tried so hard to be there for you like you were for me. I will miss our all night phone calls and video chats, driving just to drive around listening to music, and I pray every day that you are finally at peace and are getting all the love from Nanny and Papaw. I love you Timothy Allen ❤️ Fly high 🪽

My Dearest Nephew

Timothy, I will never forget your kind and loving heart!! You were always there for everyone! Your greatest quality was that you never judged or had a dislike for people! Oh how I miss talking to you and all our long video chats. You always gave the greatest advice! I miss you more than anything! The pain is so great! I love you so much! I just want to hear you call me Aunty one more time! We will always have the Dan Man Band! Shit! “Total Eclipse of the Heart”. We never had a conversation without saying that! Sometimes you would just send a text saying that one word and it would bring a smile to my face.. You always had a love for music and would sing all the time! You are greatly missed by all your family and friends. You have touched the hearts of so many! Until me meet again!

Christmas Memories

I started mentally going through my Christmas list of who to buy gifts for this year:  Morgan, Colton, Paxton, Cullen, and Timothy.   Timothy.....  And then I remember that you are not with us this year Timothy.  Thirty years of Christmas memories flood my brain. When I came home to Logan for Christmas break when I was younger, you were so little. You would come over and hang out with me for many days of break. I remember the year I bought you a Santa hat and you wore it all through Christmas.  Or the year I bought you a light-up Christmas tree hat that kind of looked like the sorting hat from the Harry Potter movies. Or the year you wore the Rudolph hat that I bought all through the holiday.  Looking for the weirdest hat for you to wear became a highlight of my Christmas. In addition to hats, I would spend hours trying to think of good gifts to get you because I wanted to be the coolest aunt ever.  I remember taking you and Cullen to Chicago before Christmas one year.  You guys drank water with your dinner out of the hotel's fancy blue glassware and toasted each other saying "Pip, Pip, Cheerio."  Or the summer when the cicadas were so loud and Kevin and I took you and Cullen to the Cincinnati aquarium. On the way back, you and Cullen would spit into the battery powered mini-fans you guys bought as souvenirs while aiming them at each other while sitting in the back seat. You two were laughing so hard and I was so absolutely disgusted, which made you guys laugh harder. Uncle Kevin told me to let you guys do it because it was a good way to keep you occupied during the ride back.  Every time you stayed with me, you wanted to hang with Andy and hold the cats.  One summer we walked with Andy at Central Park in Louisville while the outdoor Shakespeare theatre company was performing. There were so many people there to watch.  Shakespeare theatre was the most boring thing on the planet you declared, but you pronounced the girls in Louisville "way hotter than those in Logansport." You decided that going to see Shakespeare was definitely worth it, but not for the reasons I would have hoped. The last time we were together, we drove to Charlestown State Park.  While on the way there we saw Virginia glass for sale out of an old horse wagon for $4 a pound.  We stopped and you picked out a light-green translucent hunk of glass with air bubbles in it because it reminded you of frozen Mountain Dew.   At times our relationship was contentious. I always wanted you to see your potential and you always seemed to try to convince me you had none. The loss of you has left a gaping hole in each of our lives, our family, and our hearts. You will never know the impact you had on your younger cousins, or how heartbroken your parents, grandparents and aunties are. But I know you know you were loved. And if love could bring you back you would be here with us right now for Christmas and always.

The best cousin I could ever wish for

Dear Timothy, I would give anything in the world to be by your side right now. I remember when papaw took me to watch you play football and then after the game i got high fives from the whole team including you which would put a big smile on my face. I remember grandpa asking if i wanted to go to the YMCA to watch you play basketball. I remember first meeting you and as i grew up knowing that you would be the one to look up too. I remember joking around and having fun at Grandma and Grandpa's house taking silly photos of us on Christmas after i unwrapped the Ipad as a gift. I remember every time i heard that you were coming over i got excited. I remember Christmas when it was time to go i would not want to leave because of how awesome and cool of a cousin you are. Every time i saw you i would say to myself man he looks good. Love you always and forever, Colton

Cousins are friends that will love you forever!

Dear Timothy, I know that you have passed away, but you will always and forever be with me. When you passed it was very hard to hear and I wish that I never had to hear it. I would do anything in the world to bring you back. You were there for me through my ups and downs. I remember all of the fun memories we had together, and I will always remember those. I remember the one time when I was scared because my parents would sleep with the door open, and I was talking to you about it. I miss you so much and I want to bring you back so bad. My life has been hard without you to talk to, and you tell me what to do to fix it. I have been trying so hard to be okay without you and it is so hard. I miss you so much Tim and I really want to bring you back. I wake up every morning and think about you, in the middle of the day and all i do is think about you. I have your pictures hanging on my door to look at. I go to bed and think about you, I think of you all the time. I wish you didn't pass. I know that God thought it was your time to go but God thought it was. I wasn't ready and I don't think that anyone else was ready either. I would do anything in the entire world to be with you again. Sometimes I have to tell myself that you are now in a better place. I just wish there was something I could do to bring you back, Timothy, you mean the whole world to me, and I mean that. I don't even know how to believe that you are actually gone. I don't believe it because it's so shocking. I really, really, really miss you and want to see you again. if I knew you were going to be gone so soon, I would have spent a lot more time with you and I mean that with my whole heart. I just wish I could fix everything and bring you back. I just want you to come back to my life so that it will be normal, and you can help me again. You are so remembered and love, Timothy. I know there was never a mean bone in your body, and you would never do anything in the worlds to hurt me or anyone else. I miss you so much, I miss hanging out with you and talking to you, I miss hanging out with you, I miss everything, and I just want it all back. My tears get heavier when I think about you. I don't want to keep crying but it's hard. I know that you haven't really left me. I know your heavenly home and I hope it's great there. I know that someday I will get to see you again. I know that you will still talk to me and figure out how to get messages to me. I hope you promise that when my times comes you will meet me the second i get there and take my hand. You made peaceful memories and I wish that we could make more. Your love will guide through everything. Even though we cannot always see you, we will always know you're beside us. You were my cousin by blood but my friend by choice. I know that you watch over me every day and that you are always near when i need you. I hope you are there to keep me strong. I love you forever. Love your cousin, Morgie

To My Firstborn Grandson

You held rank, Timothy, from day one because you were our firstborn grandson. You had a sweet and unassuming nature, although you had an ornery streak; I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. I remember watching 'Jack Skellington' with you at least a hundred times. When you were small, I remember the computer refusing to print a paper I needed for school. You sat down beside me and told me how to print it another way. "Grandma, we learned how to do that in third grade." I have memories of baseball games, holidays, cookouts, and Nascar Sundays that are now bittersweet because you aren't here. One thing hasn't changes though, I will always be grateful for the joy you brought us all because you were Timothy. I love you, buddy; I always will. Grandma Huff

To The One Who First Called Me Aunt

You came into this world and became the first little human to make me an aunt; it’s a title I will always treasure. Thank you, ‘Tithomy’ for the opportunity to be in your life, even if it wasn’t quite long enough. There are so many memories of you growing up that it’s hard to pick my favorite. Lately I find myself flipping through my mind’s memory book and trying to recapture old conversations between us, stories, laughs, and events; I smile at each of those memories yet even now they still bring me to tears. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye, Timothy. I need you to know that I’ve always loved you. You were such a neat person, a good guy in my book. I had the pleasure of watching you grow from a baby to a young adult, and while the road that led you to the man you became may not have always been smooth, you always kept going; you always held your head high. You were continually quiet, forever mild-mannered, agreeable, never spoke ill of others, never gossiped, or said mean things about others, you accepted people for who they were, and you were kind with an unwavering love for your family. I am confident that your Grandma Elaine was the first to greet you after you passed away; you had such a special place in her heart. I can almost bet that Grandpa Roger was right behind your Grandma Elaine and was second in line to welcome you and tell you how much he missed you. You and your grandpa were so close; I know his passing was very difficult for you so I can only imagine that the reunion between the two of you was incredible. I want you to know that Cullen and I were so lucky to have spent so much time with you growing up. You were much more than a cousin to him, Timothy – he looked up to you. To this day, Cullen randomly surprises me with stories and funny anecdotes about you. He recently confessed to me that during high school you had always made him feel ‘protected.’ He told me about the night you gave him your letterman’s jacket because he was cold. (He also told me about the shenanigans that took place later that evening, but I won’t discuss that here. LOL) You will never know how much your cousins loved and admired you; they all miss you immensely, Timothy. I will always cherish the times spent together and the memories that were made when Cullen and I got to hang out with you and your dad. Over the years. We did everything from go-cart racing to Monster Jam, to hanging out around the house and eating pizza and watching movies. I will never forget the way you used to carry around and cuddled with Cullen’s cat – you loved that thing! I could go on for countless hours on how you made others feel and how lucky I was to have known you. To sum it all up – I love you, Timothy. I miss you, Dude. Life won’t be the same without you here, but I will do my very best to genuinely learn from you, to honor your memory, to treat others the way you would have treated them, to gossip less, to listen more, to be more accepting of others, and most of all I will remember how lucky I am to have shared thirty years with you. Help me keep an eye on your mom and dad as they learn to navigate this world without you here in the flesh, they sure do miss you, Tim. Thank you, Buddy, for all that you gave to me. Until we meet again ~ I love you, Dude. Aunt Jaime

My nephew, My Angel❤️

I thought the words would flow and yet I sit here replaying our memories, but the words have gone. I will never understand why it had to be you. Thinking through our lives and not knowing that we would have said goodbye so soon, pains me. I think of you often each day. Sometimes with smiles and laughter and others with sorrow and tears. I can still hear your voice. You brought joy to many and touched those who were close. Your humor and wittiness was unmatchable. The subtle comments that you made that would often leave me feeling stupid after realizing your sarcasm. The laughter that followed is most unforgettable. Your cocky attitude was a force to be reckoned with but with it came the ability to never back down from a challenge. Your beautiful eyes and blonde hair are unforgettable, your smile contagious and your loyalty never wavering. And though I feel the overwhelming guilt daily, I hope you know that you were always loved and always will be. And through your adult life there were challenges and struggles, I never questioned your love for family and friends. Devastation doesn't describe aftermath of your passing. My heart is broken, my body numb, and the pain has yet to ease. I will always hold on to the memories. From tippy toe walking, babysitting, race day watching, Jack Skellington playing all year round to Friday night football, baseball games and graduation. The birthdays, holidays, the cars rides and phone calls, the treasured times I will hold near. Colton and Morgan adore you, and always will. They look up to you and idolize your achievements. You were always a text away when Morgan was scared, or Colton needed a friend. I see a lot of you in Colton. Some of his pictures remind me of the younger you! Your soft-spoken voice and lighthearted spirit were always loved by any kid around. You were always so easy to talk with, to be around and made things so daunting the most fun. I haven't been able to imagine life without you and here we are living it. Nothing will be the same with you gone. I think of you daily, talk to you nightly and will love you always and forever. I hope you know that I would have given my life to change things for you. I know you are at peace now; I Just wish that I was too. Until we meet again, I love you nephew. Love, Auntie Jae
