Life story

In Loving Memory of Wayne Joseph Savoy Sr.

Wayne Joseph Savoy Sr. gained his angel wings on June 13, 2026, at the age of 61. He was born in New Orleans on January 22, 1965, to Donald and Patricia Savoy. Wayne spent his younger years growing up in Meraux, Louisiana, at Francis Place alongside his siblings, Donald and Cynthia. He often spoke fondly of his childhood and the wonderful neighborhood where he was raised, cherishing the memories and friendships he made there.

In his early twenties, Wayne and his ex-wife Joanie built a home together in lower St. Bernard Parish, where they raised their two children, Wayne Jr. and Kristine. Later in life, Wayne moved to Carriere, Mississippi, where he was blessed with one of his greatest joys—being a Papa to his three beautiful grandchildren, Madyson, Wayne III, and Adrian Jr. He loved sharing stories about them and proudly showing their pictures to anyone he met.

Wayne was gifted with a God-given talent for carpentry. His craftsmanship was truly remarkable, and he took great pride in creating beautiful works that reflected his skill and workmanship . He was blessed to own it operate his construction business, Southern Customs, for more than 20 years, allowing him to share his talent with countless families and clients throughout the community. Wayne was also known for his love of cooking, especially his famous gumbo, which family and friends always looked forward to enjoying. In his spare time, he loved fishing and spending time with those he loved most. Wayne's infectious laugh, warm smile, and generous spirit touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in our hearts forever.

Dancing in the garage

I have been friends with Wayne for 37 years I was by their house every weekend to pick up my second daughter Kristine who can by my house every weekend because her and my daughter were friends. Wayne’s laugh was infectious it was a laugh that made you laugh. I can remember him in the garage with the music blasting to Journey and the 80’s classics . He would be dancing around the garage to the music when I would get out my car and of course I had yo act crazy with him and dance too . I can remember bringing him shrimp and would help him pop the heads off for him to freeze . When he cooked his delicious gumbo he would give me some . I would eat over with him, Joanie, Kristine & Lil Wayne . He made the best gumbo. Wayne was a wonderful person and very good hearted. I have been a long long time friend of the family 37 years of friendship and I always enjoyed my time with them. Wayne had a great sense of humor and was always laughing. I can still see his smile it lit up the room he was in . I miss him talking with him and laughing with him. Wayne my friend May your soul rest in eternal peace and know that we love you until we meet again . I think of you very often and Kristine and I talk about you often the beautiful memories will always be in our hearts. RIP my friend. Love, Darlene & John Guenther ❤️
