”You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.“ ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139‬:‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Life story

Zoe Rose was born just a few days before her due date on June 28, 2023 at 2:03 pm. She weighed 6.8 lbs and was 18.5 in long.

When Zoe was born she was rushed to the NICU due to respiratory difficulties, indications of a possible genetic condition, and the need for open-heart surgery.

We waited for the cardiologist to examine her praying that Zoe’s heart had been healed. The report came back stating Zoe only had a hole in her heart and she wouldn’t need immediate surgery like they had planned for. Even though Zoe was intubated, required a feeding tube and had 2 lines inserted into her belly button, we were so thankful the Lord was already healing her little body.

The NICU had ‘touch times’ where we got to do little things to bond with Zoe. We got to change her diaper, take her temperature and give her kisses. We got to learn a few things Zoe liked too such as patting her bum, listening to the ‘shh’ sound and rubbing her head.

By the following morning Zoe was thriving! She got her breathing tube out less than 24 hours after birth. On the second day of life, both her lines from her belly button were removed which meant we could finally hold Zoe for the very first time. Zoe was now receiving therapy on how to eat with a bottle instead of needing her feeding tube. We were so proud of Zoe’s progress and we’re thanking God for the many small miracles he had already worked in her life.

On Tuesday, July 4th Zoe’s daddy got to give her a bath. Zoe loved her bath and she looked so relaxed in her little tub.

Later that day, Zoe’s blood tests came back positive for Trisomy 13. A fatal genetic condition which babies won’t survive their first year of life from and most babies will only live a few hours or a couple of days if they make it to full term.

Zoe was already a week old. She was truly a living miracle. We were so blessed to already have been able to spend more time with her compared to most families with these babies.

The doctor explained there wasn’t anything they could do to improve Zoe’s condition and since she was currently in a stable state we could take her home with us.

Even though the doctors couldn’t save our baby, we continued to believe and trust God our Healer was going to work a great miracle in her life. We decided bringing Zoe home as quickly as possible would be the best option for her.

Over the next several days, we began training at the hospital to learn how to care for Zoe’s needs and planned to bring her home that upcoming Monday, July 10th.

During her NICU stay Zoe got to meet all her aunts, her uncle, grandparents and a couple of our closest friends.

On Sunday, July 9th Zoe took a turn for the worst. After a long night of several apenea episodes, the doctor told us she believed Zoe is trying to tell us she’s ready to go. We knew if a miracle didn’t take place she couldn’t hold on much longer. The doctor made an exception that day to allow her older sister Lana to meet Zoe and give us some family time. We got to take pictures and videos together as a family of four. It was truly a bittersweet moment.

The nurses made Zoe as comfortable as possible. That night Zoe’s mommy and daddy got to stay their very first night with her in the NICU. She got to snuggle closely in between them both. She never felt more loved. Zoe was so calm and peaceful as she passed away into her eternal home in glory. Where she is now resting in the arms of Jesus completely healed and perfect.

We chose the name Zoe because Zoe means ‘life’ claiming that Zoe would live a perfectly healthy life. God has answered our prayer in a more glorified way than we can imagine.

In her short 12 days of life on earth, Zoe has taught us many things but the greatest thing Zoe has taught us is how to trust God in all circumstances especially when we don’t understand.

Zoe will always be our little angel watching over us 💛
